6 Great reasons for joining the club
You may ask - what are the benefits of joining the club? Well, here are six good reasons but there are many more.....
Competitions -
The chance to play competition golf is only available to members and is somewhat of a mystery until you get involved. Once you get “the bug” though, just like with golf itself, it becomes second nature to want to pit your ability against your fellow members and a quick look around our competition boards will show that being successful at competition golf is not the exclusive realm of the low handicapper.
A Handicap –
All playing members are allocated an official handicap and instead of playing against a few friends you can play anyone on an equal footing. A handicap also opens doors to play golf anywhere. For example, nearly all private clubs run “open” competitions which are available for anyone to enter providing they have a handicap. The entry fees for these are much less than the daily green fees and offer great value, a chance to play many other courses and of course the chance of winning too !
Friendship -
As a member you will find your circle of friends grows quickly. Yes, we all take the golf fairly seriously while we are on the course, at least until it becomes obvious that it isn’t going to be our week! But what happens out on the course is confined to history after a couple of beers and the customary banter in the bar afterwards which is really what belonging to any club of any kind is all about.
Clubhouse -
As a member you also have the facilities of our bar and catering for you and all the family with good value for money at all times. We operate a bar card system with members enjoying a year round 15% reduction in the prices, an average of 30p per pint off – permanently. The club has a large widescreen television with both Sky and Setanta Sports channels. We also have two full size snooker tables and a card area.
Party Catering -
The clubhouse can be booked free of charge for private parties, weddings, christenings, birthdays and the like and our caterers can provide a varied menu to suit all tastes and numbers.
Social Events –
The highlight of the social calendar are our famous “Final Presentations”. Each of our major golf competitions is held on a Saturday each month over the summer. In the evening we hold the prize presentation for the final winners as well as the subsidiary competition played for by all those not qualifying for the final. There is a sit down meal from around 8pm for those who wish to dine followed by the presentation at 10pm by which time the club has filled up with other members too. After the presentation the lights go down and the DJ takes over with dancing into the small hours.
